Junior Miss Southport Mr England North West Southport

So Many Opportunities For the Future

I have always had an interest in being a model but being a size 10/12 isn’t the conventional size for a model, so after a few approaches by model agencies in the high street that never went anywhere I pretty much gave up on the idea.

After seeing pictures of the 2010 Miss Southport on Facebook, I decided to research the competition and found that I could enter online very quickly and easily, so without even thinking of where it could lead me, I entered.

I entered to develop my confidence and basically have a nice time and hopefully meet some new friends, which I certainly did! I really wasn’t expecting to win the title but I was excited to take part in a completely new experience!

Although I have enjoyed everything, the day of the competition was probably the best part.

I was really nervous the morning of the final and really didn’t know what to expect.

I didn’t know if all the other girls would know what they were doing and I would feel out of place but it was not like that at all, everyone was really friendly and we were all chatting away all day.

It was so exciting preparing for the show, especially the rehearsals with the choreographer Lisa, which added a really professional touch and made me even more excited for the show.

I had never walked on a catwalk or anything like that before, and it was so fun to be in the spotlight.

The venue was actually perfect too, the long catwalk down the middle seemed scary at first but it felt great walking down it throughout the show.
Obviously it was amazing to actually win, but even if I hadn’t have won, I had an amazing day and met some lovely girls.

Everyone was really down to earth which helped put me at ease. Having some of last year’s heat winners there also helped make me feel at ease as they gave us lots of advice!

It has given me a lot more confidence and the ability to speak in front of a large audience which I think is a very important skill to have.

I feel a lot more comfortable meeting new people and adapting to situations that I have never experienced before.

What I love about the competition is that there was no bikini round, so you don’t have to be a size 8 with no wobbly bits to win. This factor of the competition has given me a lot more confidence in my own body.

I would definitely encourage anyone to enter the competition because it is brilliant! It offers so many opportunities for the future, and the chance to make it to the Miss England Final is also an exciting prospect. I have told all my friends to consider entering because it is so much fun and I can’t wait to crown next year’s winner!
