Brea just misses out on a place in the Grand Final

Miss Southport, Brea Carney -Jones competed in the Miss England Semi Finals at Champneys this week. Brea competed against 54 other girls in attempt to gain a place in the Miss England grand final. Sadly, Brea just missed out amongst very stiff competition.

Brea completed the 5 different rounds that made up the semi finals, these included the boot camp round, interviews, talent round and the catwalk section where Brea modeled her own eco-wear and eveningwear

Judges on the day included EGGHEADS STAR & Actor CJ De Mooi, the current Miss England Jessica Linley, Birmingham Model agent Alan Sharman; Philip Sharp Director of Great Lengths hair sponsors for Miss England, Editor of Love it! Magazine Jo Checkley, Dena Coleman former 70s beauty queen, her daughter Laura Coleman former Miss England 2008 and photographer Charlie Kaufman from the Fresh Academy.

Despite not being awarded a place in the grand final, Brea thoroughly enjoyed her time at the semi finals.

Miss Southport Final

The North West Beauty with a Purpose Awards took place on Saturday night at Pontin’s, Southport. Contestants where vying to win the Miss Southport crown and a place in the Miss England Semi Finals.

The girls took part in a 4 scene catwalk fashion show and awards ceremony.

The show was a massive success, and all the girls had an amazing day and a fantastic overall experience.

Miss Charity Southport (most funds raised for the Variety Club) went to Madelaine Newton who managed to raise an amazing £1000 for the Variety Club Children’s Charity.

Miss Popularity Southport (Public Vote) went to Sophie Birnie.

Winner to Model for Yaffe

This year, contests of Miss Southport were dedicated to raising money for The Variety Club Childrens’ Charity, who help disabled and disadvantaged children. All contestants worked hard and enthusiastically to raise as much as they possibly could for the charity. The girl who raised the most would be awarded Miss Charity Southport, presented with a sash, award and a stunning watch from Delanicci Extreme.

Abi Bridgeman today welcomed Team North to the Vincent Hotel in Southport.

Miss Southport to Host Charity Fashion Show on Friday 20th August

As part of her fundraising efforts for the Miss England Final, Abi Bridgeman will be hosting a Charity Fashion Show in aid of The Variety Club.

Date – Friday 20th August

Venue – Rockin Asia, Southport

Doors Open – 9pm

Entry – £5 (tickets to guarantee entry or pay on the door)

Details – Fashion show displaying clothing from local retailers, followed by drinks, dancing and after party until late. Abi has invited all of the Miss England North West regional winners as well as celebrity guests.

Sporty Miss Southport Fast Tracked to Miss England Final 20

The traditional Miss England ‘bikini round’ has been replaced with a modern fitness challenge. The Miss England Boot Camp took place today, at The Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel NEC, Birmingham. Current Reigning Miss England aka Lance Corporal Katrina Hodge and her solider colleagues put the 54 girls through a rigorous two hour Boot Camp to determine the overall Miss Sportswomen 2010 winner.

Miss Southport, Abi Bridgeman (18) was first to secure her fast track place within the top 20 of the national finals when she was announced runner up.

Abi was pipped at the post by Miss Newark and District, Stephanie Pywell (22), the current British International High Jump Champion who has qualified to compete within the Common Wealth games held in Delhi at the end of September. Both girls will be fast tracked to secure their places within the top twenty of the national finals, where they will go on compete to be crowned the next Miss England!

Abi is thrilled to be runner up to such a prolific sportswoman.

The national Miss England finals will takes place on the 1st September 2010 at The Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel NEC. Miss England organisers are thrilled as for the first time in 22 years, The Active Channel (Sky channel 281) will be broadcasting the national finals.

Variety Club the Big Winner at Miss Southport 2010

The Variety Club North West turned out to be the big winner at Miss Southport 2010.

Each contestant was tasked with coming up with innovative ways to raise funds for the Charity that helps disabled and disadvantaged children across the North West.

The 12 girls made an outstanding effort and raised the grand total of £5698.00

Abi Bridgeman takes Miss Southport 2010 Title

Abi Bridgeman has scooped the coveted Miss Southport 2010 title at a packed Vincent Hotel this evening.

Judges Katrina Hodge (Miss England) and Andreas Kattou (Mr England) were dazzled by Abi’s fabulous beauty and sparkling personality.

Each girl underwent a grilling from the judges before strutting their stuff on the catwalk in front of their friends, family and press.

Abi will now take part in the Miss England Semi Finals at Champney’s Health Resort and Spa, Leicestershire on Monday 14th June.

Runner up was Alys Alasu.

3rd place went to Lucy Hesketh.

Miss Popularity Southport 2010 was also Lucy Hesketh as she gained the highest public vote.

Emma Hunt was crowned Miss Charity Southport 2010 after raising a fabulous £1770.00 for the Variety Club North West.

Miss England drops into Southport

Miss England Katrina Hodge dropped into Southport last Friday (12th February) to officailly launch the search for Miss Southport 2010.

Kat loved her stay at the luxurious Vincet Hotel on Lord Street, where the Final is due to take place in May.
She said “I’ve been lucky enough to stay in lots of wonderful hotels in my time as Miss England, but the service I received here was the best yet.
She reserved special praise for Concierge, Phil.

Miss Southport is a direct entry heat into the Miss England competition. The winner of Miss Southport will, amongst other prizes, win a place in the Miss England Final where she will have a chance to go onto Miss World 2010 in Vietnam where the main prize is $100,000.

Much more than a beauty pageant or modelling competition, the organisers of Miss Southport are looking for an ambassador for the area. Someone well presented, confident and able to communicate are just some of the qualities that the judges will be looking for. Our winner will be actively encouraged to use their title to promote the area and raise the profile of many worthy causes throughout their year.

The Miss World motto is “Beauty with a Purpose” and this is something we fully subscribe to. Our aim is to raise as much money as possible for the Variety Club Children’s Charity through contestant fundraising and activities.
The winner could be an existing model, beauty pageant contestant or a complete newcomer. Many Miss England heat winners have won their heats with no prior experience. It could be you!
